The Silver Lake Eagles (10-6) head 5 miles down Highway 24 to take on their close rivals, the Rossville Bulldawgs (10-6). Rossville just off a 64-57 loss on the road at Osage City this past Tuesday. The Dawgs look to shake things up and take revenge on the Eagles after losing the first War on 24 match up at Silver Lake in December. Silver Lake recently off a 73-45 road win against Wabaunsee hoping to keep the season alive and sweep the War on 24 series this season. In the first half, Silver Lake would start with possession to start strong out of the gate with an early basket on the right-elbow by Senior Elijah Lopez. Rossville would begin the game at a slow pace struggling with many of their first possessions. Silver Lake would continue to make shots within the paint pushing to at times an 8 point lead over the Dawgs. Late in the first half, the Dawgs would start to catch fire with shots from Sophomores Cameron Miller and Jakoby McDonnell along with Junior Kameron Badura. The Dawgs would battle back to a single possession margin at the break. Silver Lake ended the half with a 3 point lead over the Dawgs. In the second half, possession would trade back and forth between the foes keeping the game close early on. Junior Mason Jones would handle the ball often leading Rossville in rebounds throughout the half. On the other side of the court, Sophomore Dayne Johnson would help give Silver Lake up to a 6 point lead at times. Midway through the 2nd half, the tensions would become increasing higher after a controversial jump ball that ended in a slight push off by Rossville. The crowd would stay at a constant roar for the rest of the game. With a minute left, Rossville’s Kameron Badura would fight back to tie the game. Eagle’s Dayne Johnson would bring the ball back down and have a strong finish in the paint and would be fouled taking himself to the line to knock down the shot giving Silver Lake a 3 point lead. Rossville would take the ball back down the court before calling a timeout at 10 seconds to devise a plan to help bring the game back to a tie. The Dawgs would do exactly that inbounding the ball to Sophomore Jack Donovan who would hit Kameron Badura to nail a wide-open corner 3 point shot tying the game at 72-72. Dayne Johnson would miss the game winning shot sending the War on 24 into Overtime. Rossville’s Mason Jones and Kameron Badura would take control in Overtime helping the Dawgs to complete their comeback in an 87-79 War on 24 win. Rossville moves on to 11-6 setting up for their next game at home against the Wabaunsee Chargers (3-13). Silver Lakes drops to 10-7 and will continue on the road at the Rock Creek Mustangs (13-2).
